This last weekend we went to many “transitional life events”… specifically we went to a wedding, a funeral, a graduation party, and a mother’s day dinner.
All of these events were beautiful in their own right – celebrating two people becoming one, rejoicing over a brother in the Lord going home to Jesus, supporting friends who are growing up and taking a new step in their life, and lastly recognizing the role our mamas have had in our lives.
As we went through all these events, I couldn’t help but think about the verse in Psalm 90:12 – where Moses prays to God saying, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Our lives really ARE so short and fleeting that we need wisdom from the Lord so we can live our days rightly.
At the end of the day, it’s not about how much money we make or how cool of stuff we have – it’s all about Jesus and who He is and what He’s done. And our lives simply revolve around that reality.
So, may we treasure every moment and event, but let us also do this one thing: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
